Urban Forum Almaty 2016
The concept of resilience was the theme of the second forum, i.e., the ability of a city as a sustainable system to develop and maintain its identity, overcoming negative environmental factors and inadequate internal resources. The forum program had two round tables on The City as an Information Field and The Principles of Cultural Policy of a Post-Industrial City on the Case of Almaty", a panel session on Air Quality and Green Zones as well as two discussions From Sustainable Infrastructure to Architectural Identity and Business and Economy. The forum was attended by 37 experts, including Jim Spencer, Professor, Clemson University (USA), urbanist Svyat Murunov (Russia), Anna Poznyak (Belarus), Lorain Yuds from the University of York (United Kingdom), Polina Ivanova (Russia) and Alexander Slavsky (Ukraine). Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan was the general partner.
